During remote learning, we are offering an online parent course. Keep an eye out for student workshops later next year. Click on this link for an awesome parent course: Strengthening Your Child's Executive Functioning Skills to Improve School Success
Student Success Webinar
Too much screen time? Disorganized school systems? Lack of motivation? This unexpected break from school is likely amplifying the frustrations you experience with your teenager. Frustrations that usually get brushed aside during the hustle and bustle of a regular school schedule.
Most of these frustrations stem from weak Executive Functioning (EF) skills - the skills that enable self-management and emotional regulation. We all rely on EF skills in order to organize and direct our daily lives. If your teen needs to improve their EF skills, then our School Success Webinar will help your teen use this time wisely to build useful Executive Function skills and return to school energized and confident to tackle challenges that school presents.
Our School Success Webinar consists of 4 online classes over 4 weeks. Each class is live and interactive for 45 minutes starting at 1:00pm (PST).
Class outline:
Week 1- Organization and Systems for Success: We will discuss the best materials management systems for school. Students will reflect upon the methods they currently use and then take steps to improve upon them or create a brand new system. Maintenance of this system continues throughout the rest of the course.
Week 2 - Time Management Part I: Students will learn about the benefits of planners and to do lists and consider which methods would suit their needs. They will be introduced to a variety of planners and ways to manage their time effectively so that they have more free time in the end.
Week 3 - Time Management Part II: Students will learn about procrastination, why it happens and strategies to tame it. They will work on breaking big tasks and assignments into more manageable chunks in order to complete overwhelming projects in a stress free and timely manner.
Week 4 - Goal Setting: Students will understand the importance of goal setting and how to set goals that are attainable and motivating. We will look at a variety of examples of schedules and expectations that teenagers are using during this time and help your student to create a daily schedule and goals that work for their individual situation.
Each week's class will be recorded. If your student must miss a class the recording will be available.
